Masters of Education is an in-depth postgraduate degree that involves counselling, administration, understanding curriculum and instruction. Understanding curriculum means participating in research for education & fieldwork. If one majors in Councillor Education means the candidate will become mental health professionals, counselling children in schools.

Some other subjects in MEd are Neuroscience Interdisciplinary Degree in Education, Academic Enrichment, higher education and student affairs and Adult education.

What are the eligibility criteria for M. Ed. Admissions?
One needs at least 50% marks in any post graduate stream, be it social sciences, humanities or science. Secondly a minimum of 50% marks in theory and practical’s respectively in B.Ed. or in the education part of the four year B.A, B.Ed. or B.Sc., B.Ed.

There is a separate tuition fee that is charged to students for the entire year. Normally a meagre sum of Rs. 3000 is charged. This can change from institute to institute. The forms can be obtained from the website of the institute or it can be procured directly from the institute. Students should always keep in mind the last date of submission online, by hand, by post etc. As post the due dates admission forms are certainly not accepted.

If one is not able to do the full time course in M.Ed do not be disappointed. The Distance Education Council has brought forth a programme that will allow students to complete a 2 year course that can be stretched up to 4 years maximum through Distance learning at IGNOU.
